How do I choose a label size?

Work backwards from three things: what data must fit (a bare barcode needs less space than barcode + name + price), what surface it sticks to (a small cosmetics jar cannot take a 50x25), and what your printer supports (standard desktop printers handle up to 104mm print width).

Which size for retail shops and supermarkets?

38x28mm is the answer for 80% of retail. It fits an EAN-13 barcode with item name and price and every POS software template supports it. Very small items (jewellery, medicine strips, cosmetics) drop to 28x19 or 30x19. Fresh counters with barcode weighing scales need 58x40 direct thermal.

Which size for e-commerce and courier shipping?

100x150mm (4x6"), the universal airway bill format for TCS, Leopards, Trax, PostEx, and Daraz. It is normally direct thermal (no ribbon), printed on 4-inch desktop printers. Warehouses also keep 100x100 for carton content labels.

Which size for warehouses and cartons?

75x50mm for carton labeling and racks; 50x25mm for item-level inventory and asset tagging. For durable asset tags choose PET material with resin ribbon.

What if none of these fit?

Moon Traders die-cuts custom sizes in-house. Any width to 110mm, any height, any roll count. Custom sizing usually costs less than forcing your application onto the wrong standard size. See all label options →
